Mardi Bras 2019

Feb 25th 2019

For the past 2 years I've hosted an annual "Mardi Bras" party to collect new bras, pads & tampons for homeless women in need. I am blessed to have such amazing friends and supporters. Over 3,900 pads & tampons (the focus this year) plus 70 new bras & undies were collected at the event this weekend to benefit homeless women in Colorado ❤️ And our corporate sponsors rocked this year for venue, food, drinks, gift bags and raffle prizes.

The swag bags at this year's event almost didn't happen after a big national sponsor fell through at the last minute, but I reached out to Glove It and Ame & Lulu as they offer some general lifestyle products (since many of our event attendees don't golf) and they generously donated to the gift bags. Our swag bags turned out even better than expected this year and all the ladies absolutely loved them!!!

But, this isn't about me. It never was. Pads and tampons are something we take for granted every month, but many women are faced with the hard choice each month between buying them or food. Or they use other, dangerous and unsanitary means to deal with their periods each month because they can't afford pads or tampons. Having your period isn't something any woman should stress about in America. Find how your can help women in need in your area http://www.distributingdignity.org.

This picture doesn’t give justice to the donations we received. The table was stacked 3 & 4 deep as well as the floor. Seriously WOW!

Simple things you can do every day that collectively will make a big difference - keep premade Ziploc bags in your car with pads, tampons, wipes, shampoo, lotion, Chapstick, advil, (in super cold weather include Mylar blankets, handwarmer packets or socks) and granola bars, instant oatmeal or other easy, non-perishable food in your car at all times to hand out to women you see on the street who are in need of some help. Bonus if you can print out a list of local women/family services and include that list in the bag.

Small gestures make a big difference when we all work together.
